What Summer 2026 Actually Looks Like in Historic Downtown Plano

July 9, 2026

If you have lived in Plano for more than a couple of years, you already know the old rhythm of downtown. A First Saturday here, a wine walk there, dinner at Urban Rio, home by nine. The blocks around 15th Street were a place you dropped into, not a place with a season. That has quietly changed. Downtown Plano now runs on a programmed civic calendar centered on McCall Plaza, and the summer schedule is dense enough that a resident who plans two or three visits between June and September will still miss most of it.

That is the shift worth understanding before you plan the next few weekends. Downtown is not competing with Legacy West on retail scale or with The Star on spectacle. It is doing something different, using a single plaza as the anchor and layering food, music, art, and low-cost fitness on top of it. The practical result is that "going downtown" now means checking a calendar first, because the same block reads as a market on one Sunday, a tropical festival the next weekend, and an empty patio the Tuesday after.

The Plaza Is the Point

McCall Plaza sits at 998 E. 15th Street, in the middle of the Downtown Plano Arts District. Almost every summer event of any size lands there. That concentration matters because it changes the parking math and the timing decisions. If you know an event is at McCall, you know which garages fill first, which side streets are worth trying, and which restaurants on the same block are going to have a wait.

Here is what the confirmed 2026 calendar looks like for the plaza and the surrounding downtown blocks.
